Here we provide the virtual implantation model for download (Windows PC) that for the first time allows predicting the position of the individual implant in the individualized cochlea. The model has been validated using 141 subjects, where we compared prediction of the model with the eventual position of the implant after the surgery (Schurzig et al., 2023).
The package is compressed and contains 5 files. One (LWdistance.xlsx) is an excel file containing the distance-to-lateral-wall data as described in (Schurzig et al., 2023). The file can be updated according to the individual cochlear implant in use. This xlsx file is automatically loaded into the main program.
The model of the cochlea can be tuned to the individual subject‘s anatomy by either of the two provided options, with the corresponding parameters obtained from the clinical CT of the subject‘s cochlea. The program then creates a full 3D representation of the individualized cochlea as well as the predicted location of the given implant in it.
The result can be exported in stl format by clicking the model export button. Additionally, coordinates of the individual lateral wall data and implant trajectory are exported in xlsx format.
Feel free to use the model, but please cite the paper (Schurzig et al., 2023, Hear Res). In case of any issues contact the corresponding leading author, Dr. Daniel Schurzig (schurzig.daniel@mh-hannover.de) or Prof. Andrej Kral (kral.andrej@mh-hannover.de).
